About The Belt Of The Amazon

Amazonite... Surely the first thought in your head will be that this name of a stone comes from the name of the river Amazonas. You fall. It's not so. More. There are not and there were never caves of amazonite in this region. As the conseguence the name can't be associated with this river.

But I have an interesting story to tell you about it.
Myths of Antient Greece tell us that the belt of the head of Amazones was made from green stones. And the women worriers took a green stone with them when they went in the battle. Nobody knows if it was amazonite or not, but...
We know that they, Amazones, had relations with people that lived in Ural. Archeologists often find decorations made from/with amazonite in the places where Amazones lived -as described by Plinius. So why not imagin that that belt was made from amazonite?

An other page in the history of amazonite we find in Egypt. Egyptians loved all blu and green stones. Decorations made with this stone were found in the tomb of Tutankhamon.

Amazonite is a green and blue-green stone. It contains often white and yellow inserts. The colour is very steady, it resist till 500°C. The stone can have very special brillant light. It's difficult to see in jewelry pieces but surely in the spheres. The stone is not transparent. It's green colour can disappear if heated till 300-500°C, bu it turns back if remains in the dark place. It is found in very great crystals.

This is a stone of courage and devotion. It's colour creates good mood, turns away anxiety and uncertainty. They say that the amazonite jewelry can reinforce relations in the family. The stone attracts wealth. It inspires oldest persons to act as young.

Amazonite is good for irritated persons, those who sees only black and white in the life. It awakes the natural laziness.

The stone protects women from envious person, helps them to maintain their beauty in time.

Amazonite is a holy stone for many nations. It is very useful for those who wants to advance on the Path of Spiritual and personal development. It helps to connect with Universe, recognizes the very high aims of it's owner, helps to have visions. Mystics put amazonite under their altars to give to it special properties.
