Because the stones absorb energies, many persons advise to cleanse your stone when you buy it and to repeat the cleansing every time you use them. Specially if you make healing practices.

There are different modes to do it:
with sunshine, with moonlight, with incenses, with ocean or salt water, in a lake, river etc., with water running from the tap.
Or maybe use other modes.

But you have to remember:
there are stones that don't like too much sunshine, or can be dissolved in water, don't like salt etc.

So, before you do something with your stone, read about it.
