Emerald Under the Feet

We love semiprecious stones but we never have seen the places where they are found. Except the shops. ;-) I wrote about mines in Argentina on April, 6 this year, now I want to show you something special. From Russia.

Stories about minerals (=semiprecious stones) helped me to learn a geologist, Michael Leikum and his book "Mysterious Stone of Zar Alexander II" you could read about in one of my previous posts ( Mysterious Alexandrite and Lost Emerald Crystals). I continue to read his book published in the posts of his blog and so I found an interesting post about one place you will like to see and you would like to visit -I'm sure. That is why I'll copy some of the photos here.

Students-geologists from Moscow visited Emerald mines in Ural this spring.
Have you ever read a fable about Pinocchio whom Fox and Cat led to the Field of Miracles? This place you see on the photo has this name too. Because...

What do you think all these persons are doing? (the students in this case)

This is an emerald they found 100 meters far from their car

And here...

Well, these are not the stones that cost hundreds and tousands. But it's a great pleasure, I think, to find an emerald under the feet.
