Treasures of S.Gennaro in Naples

Naples is a great city and every explorer can find something special for own interests. It's millennary history is presented in many museums. Actually, in the connection with the week of the culture when the entrance in all the national museums is gratis in Italy, and many persons take advantage of it, many private collections and church expose their treasures, too.

I always use this possibility and try to visit as much places as possible. This year I "dedicated" to Naples. I just told you about the collection of the Annunziata chapel in New Castle. Sunday I visited the exhibition of the treasures of the most loved patron of Naples, S. Gennaro.




I do not like the antique jewelry I've seen many pieces in the museums and exhibitions, but Naples surprised me with it's very modern and "new" stones. There were many interesting cups and other objects -but two of them werefabulous. The mitre and the pectoral -first made from about 4000 diamants, emeralds and rubins and second from different objects the members of royal family donated to the saint.

I could not photograph there that is why I present you them to you in this brochure.

 

This exhibition will be open till June,12. The ticket costs euro 10.
